There Will Be Blood
With all of the build-up and nominations surrounding this movie, I was expecting more in the way of plot. Sure, Daniel Day-Lewis's acting was superb and I'm sure he'll clinch the Oscar. And I really learned a lot about the early oil industry in California and how challenging it was: that was particularly fascinating. But where was the plot? The only discernible theme seemed to be about greed; nothing got in the way of the pursuit of wealth: not family, or friends, or religion. And it wasn't pretty. Go see it if you're interested in the tale of a greedy wealthy man.
