Dan in Real Life
I love Steve Carrell and I was really looking forward to this movie, but I was a little disappointed. His family seemed a bit TOO functional, I mean, no family I know plays so many games together so happily during holiday get-togethers. I'm sorry, that's just not real-life. These family scenes invited too many comparisons with "The Family Stone" (which was a really dysfunctional family and more believable). If you can get beyond all that, however, it's worthwhile seeing because Steve Carrell is still a wonderful actor and does his usual job of getting inside his character's head. I hope he gets some award nods for this during the upcoming season.
