Movie Review:

MILLION DOLLAR BABY

Rating: Active Eruption

What a movie, with so many deep and rewarding story lines. You’ll be inspired by the gutsy ambitions of boxer wannabe Maggie Fitzgerald, played with incredible passion by Hilary Swank. You’ll be taken with her reluctant trainer Frankie Dunn, played by Clint Eastwood, as he comes to care deeply about her. You will feel scorn as Maggie’s estranged family develops a sudden interest in her when she becomes famous. And you’ll love Morgan Freeman as Eddie Dupris, a trainer and Frankie’s partner, who is the catalyst for Frankie and Maggie coming together to make her a million dollar boxer. With Clint Eastwood as Director of the film, it is woven together beautifully and powerfully.

This movie has something for everyone. Boxing fans will enjoy seeing a woman trying to make the cut and win some bouts (and Hilary Swank is certainly a credible boxer). Fans who like love stories will find one here. Women who like stories about women overcoming impossible odds will be drawn to this film. Anyone who is part of a family will identify with the odd and dysfunctional aspects of the family relationships presented.

This is a must-see film this season; don’t miss it.
